i clicked that damn button and all was gone…..

behold.. today 16/3/07 is the day one of the GREATEST (im sorry for the lack of modesty but heck… i learnt this from Dumbledore) DotA players is going to retire from action and leave the novices to take the field and continue this epic battle to defend the ancients…

I CLICKED THE ‘UNINSTALL’ BUTTON and all my legacy as a DotA player was gone. My perfect replays, my recently updated maps, my complete patch for blueserver… all gone. I felt crippled the moment i accepted the fact that it was all gone. I will never be whole again (well… unless i pay and play at the cc). ANYWAY this post is not about my misery. This post is about the significant effect of DotA on the daily routine of addicted teenagers, and the BENEFITS to those who are not.

EFFECTS

1. All the time that one has for the day is spent to play this game.

2. There will be a trend started here. A trend of uneffecticve time management that will certainly affect the future generations in a negative way.

3. More teenagers will have their name blacklisted or be graded as ‘B’ or ‘C’ class people because they are caught playing truant just to keep up with this game.

4. (I HAVE SEEN THIS) Children will quarrel with their parents and unwanted situations will happen.

One day, i was at a cc playing DotA, owning as usual using Soul Keeper…cut the crap. Well this guy was playing too a few places from me. Out of nowhere, a lady walked into the cc and start shoutng at this guy and i was like WHOA… Apparently this lady is the guys mother and is ugring him to go home and stop visiting the cc. What i heard was astonishing, in a bad way. It was ‘erm, all cencored…’. but i was not anything good, that i can be sure of.

of course, the sentence was saturated with vulgar words

BACK TO THE STORY

this lady was so dejected she just walked away…

So we see that this lousy game actually stretches the ties between children and parents, and also encourage the usage of vulgar words. Also, these situations bring about strict rules and regulations that bind the guy(teenagers) at home… well it is not a pity.

Where was i? Yeah no. 5. The people who seriously suck in this game will bring about another trend. The blaming and boasting trend. Well this trend has already found its place among the teenagers but this game is a very very effective catalyst that speeds up the rate of dispersion of this trend. OMG i am already thinking of Mercurial….

6. Of course, as any computer game does, this game also brings down your grades, spoils your eyesight, and all the other crap.

SO NOW…. WE GO ON TO THE BRIGHTER SIDE OF DOTA

1. You get friends. I mean lots of friends. There are plenty of channels where you can get new friends when playing DotA. Theres the cc, blueserver, friends spreading the stories of pros and this and that.

2. Your reflexes grow sharper and faster. In other words, you become more aware of your surroundings… well… in DotA that is. It can be implemented in real life. You just need some adaptations.

3. Your lousy brains can work out strategies in split seconds. You can distinguish the advantageous and disadvatageous situations, calculate the risks, know when you should run, and when you should go on fighting, how to grab opportunities, make opportunities, and all the things. I cant list it all here. So it is almost the same as business isnt it? I am sure you can see the connection.

4. Well, this game can also be a past time for people who are stressed out because of work or anything else. This game lets you relax and have fun, especially when there are a lot of people. There is certainly an excitement that will make that day a memorable one.

So there goes my last words in DotA.

I hope this will benefit you in one way or another.

SO LONG, DOTA… farewell

p.s. no advice this time… i am too miserable to offer any advice now…. and they might not even be of any use to you, so what the heck…
